Jones and Thompson Contribute to Mavs Win

Dallas, TX, USA
– Bahamian big man Kai Jones is making the most of his opportunity with the Dallas Mavericks.

After bouncing around the league for the past three years with the Charlotte Hornets and the Los Angeles Clippers, Jones stepped into the starting lineup for the Mavericks on Wednesday, recording a double-double. He and his fellow Bahamian, teammate  Klay Thompson played a major part in helping their squad secure a 123-117 win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.

The Mavericks’ Bahamian contingent combined for a quarter of the team’s offensive output, with Jones scoring 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Thompson added 20 points to the effort, including the final two points that allowed the Mavs to put the nails in the Pistons’ coffin.

Cade Cunningham had 35 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists for the Pistons.
The Mavericks will return to action on Monday against the Nets. Their postseason hopes are all but done following the much-maligned Luka Doncic trade. With 12 games left in the season, Kai Jones can finally show that he belongs in the NBA and Klay can climb the all-time NBA three-pointers made list. The Mavs can also claw their way into a play-in spot.
