NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Earlier this week, residents sounded off sharing their dissatisfaction with the poor conditions of roads across New Providence.

The deputy director of Public Works is providing an update on when and where residents can expect improved conditions for their daily commutes.

Those initiatives to improve road conditions across the island involving some seven small contractors and Bahamix, the government paving company.

Deputy Director of Public Works in the Ministry of Works Damien Francis says Baha Mix will primarily focus on the repaving of major roads.

When it comes to the various roads throughout the various communities, Francis says the smaller contractors will be responsible for those road works.

As to whether a road undergoes a complete repave or the team simply patches the potholes, Francis says that is decided on a case by case basis.

And what about the timeline for such a huge undertaking…..
