NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The tragic killing of police reservist Lernex Williams on Sunday – shot while making a deposit at Royal Bank – is a dark reminder of the violent history in the Palmdale Shopping Center.

Back on September 4th 2017, a man was shot and killed and a woman injured during a robbery just outside of a bank across the street.

It was a story Our News covered, then Assistant Commissioner of Police Clayton Fernander, briefing reporters..

Then we remember the shocking incident last year, where two security guards were lucky to escape with their lives after they were shot in broad daylight in front of RBC and Lowe’s Pharmacy.

Once again, it was Fernander, as Commissioner of Police, briefing reporters.

And even though not all incidents in that strip ended in gunfire, there have been other reported armed robberies in the area.

We found a police report dating back to 2016 where a man was robbed by two men right in front of a bank on the same business strip.

While police have increased their presence in the area, especially at night, their message to business owners hasn’t changed.
