BASRA Rescues GB Boaters Stranded at Sea

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS –  It was a race against time when the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue (BASRA), Northern division, received a call Sunday night about a missing boat with two conch fishermen on board.

In partnership with the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and the U.S. Coast Guard, they quickly mobilized all available resources to locate the missing men.

John Scott, Acting Director of the Air Wing Unit at BASRA explains by the following morning, they were able to access an aircraft thanks to well-known pilot Ricky Laing.

Together with two spotters, pilot Antonie Knowles and Demetri Rolle, they launched a grid search pattern over west end.

Our News also spoke with the pilot who donated his plane for the rescue mission.

The spotters located the men around 11:30am Monday.

 Businessman Captain Daniel Murray was able to go out in his boat and rescue the men.

Scott shares the rescue, once again proves BASRA’s importance in the country.
