NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Contractors Association is speaking out after President Leonard Sands made a Facebook post highlighting a number of issues with a construction site here in New Providence.

From the post, several concerning deficiencies were highlighted.

But of even greater concern, is the soon-to-be homeowner who is trusting the contractor to construct their home properly.

Sands says the structure in its current state isn’t hurricane ready.

The BCA president is also questioning how the building got all the approvals in the current state.

He believes incidents like this underscore the need for regulation of the construction industry and to appoint a board to ensure construction companies abide by the regulation.

He says he reached out to the development company but has yet to get a response but says there needs to be greater supervision on the site.

Meanwhile, another concern raised is the cost to the customer.
