NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As debate over the hot-button issue of marital rape continues, Bahamas Christian Council President Bishop Delton Fernander says there needs to be more engagement on the matter as the nation faces the difficulty of the conversation.

The issue has been a topic of contention for quite some time.

A draft bill on the matter is out for consultation.

Social Services Minister Obie Wilchombe said the government is consulting churches.

Fernander says the approach will make the difference.

He also says there needs to be a meshing of the minds.
