NASSAU, BAHAMAS – While our nation basks in the blessings of sun-kissed sands, the question lingers: are our beaches truly safe?

As crime continues to cast its shadow over our nation, recent alleged incidents targeting tourists have sparked international outcry. Most notably, the alleged abduction and assault of two kentucky women in grand bahamas have reignited concerns. The pressing question remains: are our tourist hotspots, particularly our beaches, secure?

Pedro Bannister, owner of Pedro’s Water-Sports and a frequent fixture at the beach, reassures us that despite advisories and warnings, beachgoers have remained safe.

However, The Bahamas has recently made negative headlines internationally, with double-digit murders making headlines before January’s end. Yet, retired resident Edgar McPhee, who has lived both in the United States and Nassau, insists that tourists need not fear.

But with the negative press came travel advisories from countries like The United States and Canada. Bannister notes that for him and fellow operators, such advisories are nothing new.
