NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The top sailors in the country will take to the water this weekend for annual bragging rights and a whole lot more.

The seventh edition of the Best of The Best Regatta sets sail Friday and continues through December 8  at the Montagu foreshore. 

Hundreds of sailors will compete in classes A, B, C and D.

Event organizers are calling it the largest edition of the event, since its inception.

NBA

Deandre Ayton headlined a tough Tuesday night for Bahamians in the NBA. 

Ayton finished with 16 points in 33 minutes for his Portland Trailblazers in a 127-105 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Kai Jones went scoreless in just six minutes.

Since his return from injury, aton has averaged 19 points and 7.8 rebounds in just over 35 minutes per game.

Buddy Hield scored just six points off the bench in his Golden State Warriors’ 119-115 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Klay Thompson also struggled from the field with just five points, but his Dallas Mavericks won 121-116 over the Memphis Grizzlies.

NCAA Basketball

National team standout Donnie Freeman has had a quick adjustment period to his first season of college hoops and was recognized by his conference.

Freeman, the Syracuse Orange forward, was named Atlantic Coast Conference co-rookie of the week.

The award came after  he led syracuse to an 82-72 win over cornell  with a career-high 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Freeman also posted 19 points and 12 rebounds against youngstown state.

Through six games, Freeman is averaging 12 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from the field.
