WASHINGTON D.C. – President Joe Biden condemned the attacks on Haitian immigrants in the U.S., stating, “this has to stop,” during a White House event on Friday celebrating black excellence.

Biden’s comments came after Republican Candidate Donald Trump repeated a false claim about Haitians in Ohio.

Trump falsely accused immigrants of eating household pets during his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Haitian community leaders expressed concern that Trump’s remarks could incite violence and deepen tensions in Springfield, Ohio, where a growing Haitian population has contributed to the local economy but strained resources.
