NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man has been jailed for 12 months and his dogs ordered destroyed after a young American boy was mauled at the Bimini Cove Resort and Marina in South Bimini.

Harrington Rolle, who is a 34-year-old dockmaster at the property, failed to properly secure his six Staffordshire Bull Terriers when he left for work on July 28.

The dogs got loose and savaged 9-year-old Beau Brattain while he collected sand on the beach.

Beau, who’s from Miami, Florida, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Florida, where he underwent multiple surgeries.

Rolle learned his fate when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans today after pleading guilty to charges of negligently causing grievous harm, permitting a dangerous dog to be at large, and being the owner of a dangerous out of control dog that caused harm to a person in a public place on Friday.
