NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One day after Labour Minister Keith Bell weighed in on rumblings of potential layoffs, Bahamas Petroleum Retailers Association Vice President Vasco Bastian is responding, saying the line of communication is open with government.

Bastian explains that while some claim station owners had time to prepare, that doesn’t really help their sector.

And Bastian says other avenues of increasing profits that could possibly be used in other sectors don’t really apply to them, as many of the products sold at gas stations are breadbasket items.

Bastian says he’s hopeful about the government’s willingness to talk.
