Bridgewater, Davis Put Up Impressive Numbers In France

FRANCE – Several national basketball team members were in action in their respective leagues.

Dominick Bridgewater is having a standout season powering his way with Fos Provence Sur Mer in the French NM1 league.

In the latest win, an 84-80 thriller over Scabb, Bridgewater posted 20 points, 5 assists, and a season high 6 steals.

The Byers improved to 8-2 on the season.

In the prior outing, he scored 16 points and handed out 6 assists in a 94-77 victory over BC Orchies.

Bridgewater returned to FOS this summer after a successful 2023-24 season (14.4 PPG, 4.8 APG) at US Avignon-Le Pontet, and a stint in Pro B with champagne basket (10.8 PPG, 2.7 APG).

Meanwhile, guard Rashad Davis has been making his mark with Caen Basket Calvados.

In the most recent outing, he logged 12 points and 12 rebounds in an 89-85 win over Orthez.

Davis signed with Caen for the 2024-25 season, coming off a strong play in France’s NM1 where he earned promotion with Challans.

In that 2023-24 season he averaged around 11.2 points, 3.3 boards and 2.2 assists per game.

National Sports Month

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture has officially launched National Sports Month, celebrating health, wellness and excellence in sports throughout November.

This weekend, celebrations continue with the unveiling of six new portraits at legends walk, including one of baseball star Jazz Chisholm Jr. on November 7, followed by the National Sports Awards on November 8.

The National Sports Hall of Fame will take center stage this year, honoring 14 new inductees across multiple disciplines.

Its induction ceremony set for November 20th at Sandals Royal Bahamian.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Mario Bowleg praised the class of 2025, calling them “the heart of our nation – defined by discipline, perseverance and unity.”

The month includes a health and wellness fair at the Mall at Marathon and equipment donations to schools.

Other highlights include daily aerobics at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs gym, National Boxing Week in Grand Bahama, featuring church services, a boxing museum opening, and tributes to the sport’s legends.

Mingoes Athletics

The University of The Bahamas golf team won three of four matchups against Beacon College at the Arlington Ridge Golf Course in Florida.

Payton Haye won her match with a 22-over-par 93, including a birdie on hole 16.

Rachel Quant shot 31-over 102 to defeat her opponent, and Gia Marshall also won with a 31-over 102.

Travis Cartwright fell short despite a 35-over 106 round.

Head Coach Frederick Taylor praised his freshmen for adapting to challenging conditions.

The Mingoes now turn their focus to the 5th Baark Golf Tournament on November 16 at Royal Blue Golf Course.
