New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. exited Thursday night’s 8-4 win over the Houston Astros after suffering contusions to both knees on separate plays.
He first aggravated his right knee in the second inning while fielding a ground ball off the bat of Ramón Urías.
In the third, his left knee collided with the helmet of Jose Altuve on a stolen base attempt that Chisholm successfully tagged out.
He remained in the game to bat in the fourth, striking out against Cristian Javier, but was replaced in the field the next half inning by José Caballero.
Despite the injury, he was optimistic that it was a minor setback, once no tears or ligament damage was confirmed.
Beginning tonight, the Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays in a crucial American League East matchup and they need all hands on deck.
