Cleveland, OH, USA. Bahamians Buddy Hield and Klay Thompson both showed out on Monday night in the association.
Buddy, playing in just his third game with the Philadelphia 76ers continues to flex his all-around game in Philadelphia. He had 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists to help Philly get a 123-121 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Philly held the lead for most of the game, fending off a furious run by Cleveland to hang on and get the win.
Hield has seemed to have a home in Philly. He’s playing 10 more minutes per game, is averaging 10 more points per, and has been entrusted with handling the ball, even with all-star point guard Tyrese Maxey in the lineup, allowing him to showcase playmaking skills previously unseen in his decade in the NBA. Because of this, he’s averaging 6.7 assists per game, up from his career average of 2.6.
Buddy and the Sixers will host the Miami Heat tomorrow night and then they’ll have a long layoff for the All-Star break.
While Buddy is exploring a new dimension to his game, Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors seems to be getting back to his old self.
The prolific three-point bomber has been mired in a shooting slump lately, but he busted out of it on Monday night, going for a team-high 26 points on 11-19 shooting including 3 of his 7 three-point attempts as the Warriors got a 129-107 win over the Utah Jazz.
Stephen Curry would chip in 24, 6, and 6 including 5 threes in the fourth quarter to help the Dubs lock up the win and Draymond Green had a near triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.
The Warriors are on a 5-game winning streak and they’ve won for 7 of their last 8 games. They’ll try to keep the streak alive on Valentine’s night against the LA Clippers.
