NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Works and Utilities is working to update the current Bahamas Building Code to incorporate coastal infrastructure’s design guidance.

Due to disastrous hurricanes, rising sea levels and climate change, improvements must be made to the Bahamas building code.

Project coordinator for the Project Implementation Unit at The Ministry of Works and Utilities Charlene Collie says science-based information is currently being used to help implement the best design options.

She notes the country’s current building code is being updated and stakeholder engagement and consultation is ongoing.
