LIMA, PERU – Team Bahamas prepares to close out competition in Peru.

Carlos Brown Jr continues to be the standout performer for Team Bahamas at the World Athletics U-20 Championships.

He stormed into Friday’s 200m final with some impressive showings in the qualification rounds. In the opening round, brown finished second in heat 6 in 21.31 seconds to become an automatic qualifier to the semis.

In semifinal three, Brown finished third in semifinal three in 21.19 seconds to qualify for tonight’s final.

Also competing in the men’s 200m field, Andrew Styles finished fourth in heat two in 21.72 seconds.

Sailing
Earlier this week we brought you the story of sailing Olympic hopeful Joshua Higgins. For Higgins to reach that goal, it takes more than success on the seas, it’ll take funding.

Higgins continues to solicit funding for his historic venture on all fronts including private donors and corporate bahamas.

Despite being one of the most accomplished sailors in Bahamian sports history he has yet to be added to the elite athlete subvention list.

College Football
Entering his sophomore season, Prince Strachan looks to take on a bigger role for Boise State Football.

Boise State opens the 2024 season Saturday on the road against Georgia Southern at 4pm.

Strachan, the 6’5 215 pound receiver made an impression last season in limited opportunities, particularly in the downfield passing attack. 

He averaged 22.8 yards per reception, 2nd most in the Mountain West conference and 5th most in the FBS for anyone with at least 10 catches in 2023.

On the season, 12 passes for 274 yards, including his breakout game where he caught five passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns in the broncos’ win over New Mexico. 

In the preseason, Strachan caught two passes for 48 yards, including a 32-yard reception that set up a rushing touchdown.
