NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Carnival is back and with masqueraders and music lovers ready to hit the road this weekend, we spoke to the owner of Island Rhythms Mass Band and former president of The Bahamas Carnival Band Owners Association Dario Tirelli shared that carnival provides unique opportunities for vendors and insists it contributes to the orange economy.

When originally introduced in 2014, the event was placed under the name “Junkanoo Carnival”. For years it was criticized as a non-Bahamian festival. Nine years later, Tirelli says it is simply repackaging our culture in a different artistic format.
