CARIBBEAN – The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is closely monitoring viruses like HMPV, influenza a, and Covid-19 as the Caribbean’s peak travel season raises the risk of respiratory illnesses.

At the end of December 2024, CARPHA said respiratory illness activity in the Caribbean showed mixed trends. While current risk remains low, CARPHA warned in a statement this week that increased tourism could strain health systems. Member states are urged to strengthen surveillance and health capacity, with a focus on travelers.
