Catastrophic Floods Kill Over 360 in Nepal and Tibet, More Than 1,400 Missing

ASIA – Catastrophic flash floods in a border area of China and Nepal have killed at least 359 people and left more than 1,400 people missing as of Thursday.

Many were foreigners in the area for trekking, guided tours, or a pilgrimage to a sacred Hindu site.

Videos of the disaster showed people running before the floodwaters swallowed them up and washed out buildings and bridges.

Images also showed what appeared to be the second floors of buildings slathered in mud after the torrent rushed by. Riverbanks and village streets were covered in mud, debris hung from tree branches and wires, vehicles were buried, and some stunned survivors were caked in mud.
