Charlton Wins Commonwealth Games Gold

SCOTLAND, UNITED KINGDOM – Devynne Charlton brought Team Bahamas to the top of the Commonwealth Games podium.

The 60m hurdles world record holder added another major title to her growing resume, winning the women’s 100m hurdles gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Charlton crossed the finish line in 12.33 seconds to secure the first Commonwealth Games gold medal of her career, improving on the silver medal she won four years ago in Birmingham.

The Bahamian national record holder held off a world-class field that included defending champion Tobi Amusan of Nigeria, who had to settle for the bronze medal.

Charlton’s gold continues an incredible run of success that has seen her capture three straight world indoor titles while maintaining her status as the world record holder in the 60m hurdles.

The victory gives The Bahamas another gold medal on the international stage and further cements Charlton’s place among the greatest track and field athletes in the nation’s history.

Miami Hurricanes Hold Pre-season Retreat in The Bahamas

The Bahamas continues to grow its reputation as a destination for elite basketball programs.

The University of Miami Men’s Basketball team is currently in Nassau for a four-day pre-season retreat at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, using the trip to build chemistry ahead of the 2026-27 NCAA season.

The itinerary features early morning strength and conditioning sessions, skill workouts, team-bonding activities, and community outreach, including a beach cleanup at Coral Harbour Beach.

The retreat has a strong Bahamian connection.

Former Bahamas national team point guard L.J. Rose Jr., who now serves as the Hurricanes’ general manager, helped welcome the team to his homeland for the week’s activities.

The program is also holding an open practice during its stay, giving local fans a chance to see the Hurricanes up close.

The visit adds to The Bahamas’ growing resume as a host for major basketball events, with Baha Mar having welcomed NCAA tournaments, NBA teams, and other high-profile programs in recent years.
