LONG ISLAND, BAHAMAS – On Tuesday, we climbed steep heights to get to the top of the Columbus Monument in Cape Santa Maria, and on Wednesday, our tour with Chuck Fox, Owner and Operator of 4KS Adventure Tours & Rentals began with a descent into the historic Hamilton’s Cave, where many archeological artifacts of the Lucayans have been found.

We were led by Leonard Cartwright, who has been teaching people about Hamilton’s cave for over 40 years.

The breathtaking cave features both a saltwater pool and a freshwater spring and is home to multiple species of bats.

Cartwright now wonders who will follow in his footsteps as keeper of the cave.

Our next stop was one on many people’s bucket list: Dean’s Blue Hole. The crystal clear sandy banks drop off to an abyss 660 feet deep.

And don’t worry, we’re not sticking to the sand. Cameraman Terrance Colebrook and I opted to brave the blue before heading off to our next stops: some of the islands historic churches.

Fox also leading us to a slice of heaven near Galloway Landing.

And finally, a stop for some fresh conch salad at Seaside Village, hosted by Kenneth Cartwright and his four-year-old osprey, K.C.
