Chisholm Heats Up Ahead of Postseason Push

UNITED STATES – Jazz Chisholm Jr. continues to make his presence felt in the New York Yankees lineup, delivering another big offensive performance Wednesday night.

He went 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base as the Yankees defeated the Houston Astros 9-3.

Chisholm’s big moment came in the seventh inning, when he lined an RBI double to right field, helping the Yankees turn a 3-3 game into a 7-3 lead. It was his third three-hit game of the season.

And the numbers show just how much his bat has heated up.

Over his last seven games, Chisholm is batting a stellar .435 with 10 hits, five RBIs, four walks, four stolen bases, and a .739 slugging percentage.

With the Yankees in the thick of the American League playoff race, Chisholm’s recent production is giving New York another important offensive option down the stretch.

FIBA WC ’27 Qualifiers

The Bahamas begins the second round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers tonight, taking on Uruguay in Montevideo.

The Bahamian squad will be without several of the players who helped them through the first round, but the lineup still features NBA veteran Buddy Hield, along with Kai Jones, Jaraun Burrows, Franco Miller Jr., Domnick Bridgewater, and Garvin Clarke Jr.

Also in the 10-man group are Romad Dean, Jacob Hanna, Sammy Hunter, and Isaiah Mobley.

The Bahamas enters the second round with a 2-4 record, while Uruguay has been one of the stronger teams in the group at 5-1.

Uruguay is led by Luciano Parodi, Emiliano Serres, and Joaquin Rodriguez, who are all averaging at least 15 points per game in the qualifiers.

With seven Americas spots available for the 2027 World Cup, The Bahamas knows every game in this second round will carry significant weight.

CARIFTA Track and Field

Guyana will host the CARIFTA Games for the first time in 2027, after the Athletics Association of Guyana and NACAC officially signed the hosting agreement this week.

The 54th edition of the region’s premier junior track and field championships will take place over Easter weekend at the National Track and Field Facility on the West Coast Demerara.

NACAC President Mike Sands described the event as more than just a track and field competition, pointing to its importance as a platform for young athletes to attract university scholarships and begin their journey toward the Olympic stage.

Guyana is expected to welcome approximately 1,100 athletes, coaches, and officials.

The government says the event will also help build the country’s capacity to host other major international sporting events in the future.
