Ole Miss Women’s Team Loses 2nd Straight SEC Game

AUBURN, ALABAMA, USA – Coach “Yo” and the University of Mississippi have fallen on hard times in the state of Alabama. After falling to the University of Alabama 63-58 a week ago, they dropped a barnburner to the Auburn Tigers, losing 77-76 in overtime on Sunday.

The game seemed to be well in hand for the Rebels, who led by as many as 14 points in the first half. However, the Tigers mounted a furious comeback in a 2nd half that featured as many as 12 different lead changes before regulation ended at a 70-70 stalemate.

The game eventually went into overtime where the back-and-forth continued before Auburn’s Honesty Scott-Grayson made a layup with 1:08 left to put her team up 77-74.

Ole Miss’s Myah Taylor would make a layup to bring the score within 1, and would actually get two chances to take the lead again within the last minute, with Angel Baker missing a layup and a jumper on back-to-back Auburn turnovers.

Angel Baker went off against the Tigers, going for 25 and 12 rebounds.

Madison Scott added 14 points and 5 rebounds. Ole Miss’s trademark stifling defense did little to deter Auburn’s Aicha Coulibaly who had 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Rebels can bounce back from this Alabama rut when they face in-state rival Mississippi State in Oxford on Thursday.
