NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Many of us are inspired to start the new year off on the right foot with fitness goals, but statistically most will give up by the end of the month.

The Fitness Connection is hoping to keep more people on-track with a transformation challenge aimed at not only the body but also the mind.

Their upcoming challenge beginning January 16 is the ninth iteration of their 12-week transformation challenge, where the male and female first place winners can win up to $1,000 each.

Alex Pelanne, operations manager at the Fitness Connection, says it’s about much more than the money.

Local gym owners say many of the new year fitness crowd start falling off by March.

The operations manager says the challenge includes biweekly personal check-ins, and if someone is thinking of giving up because they feel they’ve backtracked.

If you’re looking to try different trainers before commitment, there will be some free group workouts available for competitors along the way where you can meet new trainers and fellow participants.

Pelanne says the challenge is a passion project for the fitness connection.
