Convicted Murderer Awaits Sentencing After Second Murder Conviction

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who has spent six years behind bars is awaiting sentencing for a second murder conviction. 

Thirty-two-year-old Mark McKenzie appeared before Justice Franklyn Williams today for a sentencing hearing.

In May, McKenzie was convicted of the January 17, 2017, murder of Carlos Adderley.

A gunman alleged to be McKenzie shot Adderley multiple times while he was at a basketball court near a church in Blue Hill Estates.

Prosecutors are seeking a sentence in the range of 40 to 50 years.

McKenzie is serving a 40-year sentence for the February 12, 2017, murder of Leslie Green. He was shot dead at Derby Road in Yellow Elder Gardens. McKenzie will learn his fate on October 12.
