NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Wet weather has dumped inches of rain across the capital in recent days, causing flash flooding in low-lying areas.

But what’s the environmental impact?

We spoke to Dr. Kristen Unwala, Executive Director of the Small Island Sustainability Program at the University of The Bahamas.

Many residents still rely on well water for drinking and other domestic uses. So, could flooding contaminate that water, and what should you do?

As hurricane season approaches, scientists and environmentalists are also concerned about the Family Islands.

Hurricane Dorian’s impact on islands like Grand Bahama and Abaco remains one of the latest examples.
