NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An Appeals Court has upheld the gun conviction of a man who told police he had the weapon for his protection.

Ronald Rolle was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after Magistrate Lennox Coleby Sr found him guilty on October 30, 2023.

On April 12, 2023, police officers executed a search warrant on Rolle’s home at Love Alley.

He was handcuffed and made to sit on the sofa while the officers searched the home.

The officers noticed Rolle fidgeting in the sofa, prompting a search of the area.

An officer found the keys to a rental car that was parked in the front of the house.

The keys were used to open the car and the officers found a pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition under the mat.

Rolle claimed that he had found the gun in bushes and decided to keep it for his protection because he had been shot before.
