NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Residents may soon find themselves facing fewer COVID-19 rules. Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper reveals the government is considering further relaxing COVID restrictions, noting that hotels are pushing for drastic changes.

Cooper telling reporters today that “COVID fatigue” is one of the topics up for discussion at Tuesday’s cabinet meeting.

Cooper says deciding on The Bahamas’ next step will depend heavily on striking a balance between the economy and public health and safety.

With the North American market ready to put covid behind them, the DPM says hotels are calling for changes to the mask mandate and testing requirements

On Monday, several U.S. airlines announced that mask mandates will no longer be enforced.

The move came after a federal judge ruled that the mask mandate on public transportation was unlawful.

Cooper says the mask mandate has always been a point of discussion for the government.
