NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Ian Poitier has been selected as the project lead for the Creative and Performing Arts School, also known as CAPAS, presenting the concept of the new school to a room full of dignitaries and Bahamian creatives Wednesday afternoon.

CAPAS is planned to provide a tertiary-level conservatory-style education, starting at age 18 with no upper age limit.

The proposed syllabus includes things like creative writing, musical theatre, choreography, and music production.

But they’re still in the early stages of planning, with today’s event serving as an opening to the consultation period.

Despite being supported by the government in these early stages, Poitier says it’s important CAPAS remains independent.
