NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The climate change bill is due to industrialized countries, according to Prime Minister Philip Davis, who sat down to back up his claims in New York, Thursday.

In an interview with Bloomberg News, Davis explains that while his government is working to get the country’s debt to GDP ratio down to 50 percent over his term in office, there is misinformation in the marketplace.

That as he points out that The Bahamas is not responsible for a huge chunk of its debt.

“If one were to look at our debt and how it occurred, is a direct result of climate change,” Davis explains, noting how many major hurricanes The Bahamas has faced over the past several years, including monster storm Hurricane Dorian.

So, what’s the solution? Davis says it may be some form of debt forgiveness, but solutions should also seek to address loss and damage as a result of climate change.
