The Suns Lose a Heartbreaker In the Final Seconds

Deandre Ayton

MIAMI, USA – Bahamian NBA Center Deandre Ayton scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his Phoenix Suns as they lose a heartbreaker to the Miami Heat 113-112.

Most of the big man’s points came from around the rim as he went 8-10 from the field.

Suns scoring guard Devin Booker had 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists while rookie guard Duane Washington Jr had 21 off the bench.

Although Booker had an efficient shooting day, going 11 for 22, he missed two key shots on the final possession of the game that would have given Phoenix the win: A jumper from the left elbow that was blocked by Heat stalwart Jimmy Butler and a three-pointer that simply missed.

The Heat’s Bam Adebayo had a field day against Ayton, scoring 30 points on 9 of 18 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds. He led a furious Miami Heat rally from down as many as 13 in the 4th quarter before Booker missed the potential go-ahead shots.

Ayton and the Suns will try to recover from this loss when they take on fellow Bahamian Klay Thompson and the defending champion Golden State Warriors tomorrow in Phoenix.
