NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A major push for U.S. President Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race centers on his age and ability to defeat former president Donald Trump and serve another four years.

Biden, 81 and trump, 78, are both older candidates.

The U.S. race took a sharp turn with Biden announcing this week he would leave the race and endorse his VP Kamala Harris as the democratic nominee. It followed calls for him to exit after multiple blunders and a shaky debate performance.

The issue of age is also being discussed in Bahamian political circles regarding candidates for prime minister and in the wider community, the issue is also being considered.

These healthcare professionals telling our news they believe that after a certain age, it’s time to move aside.

Ashley Knowles, a tertiary educator, shares a different view. He believes people should be allowed to work beyond the retirement age as long as they are able to fully function in their role.

His sentiments are similar to those of a senior cabinet member and veteran politician.
