Dorian Survivor Wins New Jeep Courtesy of the Ultimate Giveaway
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Dorian survivor Candice Bethel-Strachan wins a brand new 2025 Hyundai Creta after winning Our News and Automall’s Ultimate Giveaway on New Year’s Eve. Bethel-Strachan lost her 2017 Hyundai Tuscon when Abaco was slammed by Hurricane Dorian, and contemplated buying a new vehicle alongside her husband.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Many who entered Our News and Automall’s Ultimate Giveaway were expecting a call on New Year’s Eve, but only one person would be named the winner, and receive a brand-new 2025 Hyundai Creta.
That was Candice Bethel-Strachan.
On Saturday, the Abaco native arrived in New Providence to sign the official paperwork for the vehicle.
Bethel-Strachan was greeted by Auto Mall sales professional, Terrance Strachan, Our News Senior Producer, Kendeno Knowles, Auto Mall Marketing Manager Deshay Williams, and I (Denielle Miller).
An excited Bethel-Strachan called it a full circle moment.
In 2019, Bethel-Strachan lost her 2017 Hyundai Tuscon when Abaco was slammed by Hurricane Dorian.
Since then she and her husband have contemplated purchasing a new vehicle, going as far as getting several quotes from Automall.
Her husband Philip says their win happened at the right time.

Bethel-Strachan says she entered the giveaway for fun, and never imagined she would be the grand prize winner.

“You know you always online and entering little giveaways here and there, but you never win anything, and the calls started coming through and boom, it was the car, and that’s why he said when it’s your time, it’s your time [because] like I said for years from 2022 up until last year we was getting quotes thinking, trying to work out things and I guess things just didn’t line up, and it didn’t line up for a reason.”
With the paperwork signed and a glass of apple cider to commemorate the occasion, the only thing she had left to say was,
