NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An Ecuadorian man is facing charges following a deadly collision that killed his passenger.

David Rodas Herrera is charged with vehicular manslaughter concerning the August 31, 2024 death of Hansel Strachan Jr.

Herrera was driving a truck along The New Providence Highway around 4am on the day in question when he collided with another vehicle. His passenger died as a result.

Herrera didn’t have to plead to the charge when he stood before Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans.

Herrera’s bail was set at $10,000 on the condition that he surrenders his travel documents and checks in the Cable Beach Police Station on Sundays.

He’s back in court to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
