NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An icon in Bahamian media will have the final chapter written about his life, as former colleagues of Ed Bethel remember the man and his legacy.

He was a familiar voice across Radio Bahamas and TV 13, but all that are left now are memories of Bethel, a trusted voice and iconic broadcaster and statesman.

To his former colleagues he was a tutor and mentor, who took a chance when others wouldn’t.

These colleagues and in some cases contemporaries, were influenced at different times, yet all had similar takeaways.

Words like tough boss, consummate professional and an expert on history and current affairs.

Bethel started at the Tribune newspaper before transitioning into broadcasting and ZNS, then to private broadcasting at Love 97, and eventually a Counsel General and High Commissioner.

In a statement The Bahamas Press Club President Anthony Capron expressed sadness over the loss, saying his death certainly leaves a void in journalists both print and broadcast.
