UNITED STATES – VJ Edgecombe continues to make history for his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers after being named to the 2025-2026 Kia NBA All-Rookie First Team.

The former third overall pick started all 75 games for Philadelphia, averaging 16 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting over 35% from three-point range.

He finished among the top rookies in scoring, three-pointers, and steals, leading the entire class with 107 steals.

Edgecombe’s breakout year included 23 games of 20 or more points, three 30-point performances, and a record-setting 34-point NBA debut against Boston.

He also shined during the NBA all-star weekend, winning MVP honors at the Rising Stars Challenge, and further establishing himself as one of the NBA’s brightest young talents.

He becomes the first Sixers rookie named to the first team since Ben Simmons in 2018, joining Allen Iverson as the only Sixers rookies to record at least 1,000 points and 125 three-pointers in a single season.

Chisholm Adds Another Multi-hit Game

Jazz Chisholm Jr. continues his hot stretch at the plate despite a tough night for the New York Yankees, who fell 2-1 to the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Bahamian star went 3-for-4 with three singles, providing most of the offense for New York in the loss.

His biggest swing of the night came on a 110.4 mile-per-hour laser to right field, the second hardest hit ball of his season, trailing only the 110.9 mph home run he blasted off Jacob Degrom earlier this month.

Chisholm has now recorded five multi-hit games in his last six outings and continues to trend upward at the plate.

He’s hitting .328 in the month of May, and owns a .301 batting average over his last 28 games.

Since debuting his retro look on Jackie Robinson Day, Chisholm has batted .281 while seeing his OPS climb to .704 with a 101 weighted runs created plus – a sign the Yankees infielder is producing at an above-league-average level.

Dynamos Win Knockout Cup, UB Takes Third Place

Dynamos FC captured the 2026 Bahamas Football Association Men’s knockout cup title with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Inter Nassau FC at the Roscow A.L. Davies Soccer Fields.

Dynamos got goals from Wood Julmis and Marlon Barnes to secure the championship and complete an impressive run through the tournament that included a win over Western Warriors before surviving a thrilling 5-4 semifinal victory over the men’s league champs – the University of The Bahamas Mingoes.

Meanwhile, the Mingoes closed out their campaign with a strong performance in the third-place match, shutting out United FC 3-0.

UB goalkeeper Antonio Beckford and the Mingoes defense delivered a clean sheet in the final match of his Mingoes career.
