UNITED STATES – VJ Edgecombe and the Philadelphia 76ers forced Game 6 with a season-saving win on the road in Boston.

Edgecombe scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while shooting 3-for-6 from beyond the arc in the 76ers’ 113–97 Game 5 win over the Celtics.

The formula seems simple: VJ hits threes, Philly wins. In the two series wins, he’s made 9 of 16 threes. In three losses, he’s 0 for 16.

Game 6 is set for Thursday night, as the 76ers look to even the series at home.

Meanwhile, Buddy Hield got some late-game run in the Hawks’ 126–97 loss to the Knicks.

Hield scored five points in his first game action since scoring 31 in the regular season finale.

The Hawks trail 3–2 and will host the Knicks Thursday night in Atlanta.

Tennis

Justin Roberts has been on a run recently that has him progressing to a career-high ranking on the ITF Tour.

Roberts is now ranked 164 by the organization after his recent run at the Orlando M15.

He picked up three wins over Alex Kuperstein, Blu Baker, and Bastian Malla before an eventual loss to top seed Cannon Kingsley in the semifinal.

At the previous Orlando M15 event, Roberts went on a seven-match run, playing his way from the qualifying draw into the final before losing to top seed Corentin Denolly.

From the last two tournaments, Roberts earned 12 ATP points, moving up 295 spots for a new season-high ranking of 976 in the world in the ATP live rankings.

Minor League Baseball

Ian Lewis’ debut season in Double-A with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos has had several milestone moments so far, and that continued last night with his first home run at this level.

His solo shot tied the game in the seventh inning before Biloxi went on to win 7–2.

It adds to what has been an electric start to the season for the Miami Marlins prospect, though most of those highlights have come from his speed on the basepaths.

Earlier in April, he stole four bases in a single game against Biloxi and later swiped three bases against the Knoxville Smokies.
