NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In a viral voice note, President of The Bahamas Union of Teachers Belinda Wilson says she had a meeting with the principal of S.C. McPherson Junior High.

She says they compiled several issues and claims commitments were made.

However, Wilson says most were not met thus far. She claims attempts to communicate with the principal did not yield results.

Minister of Education, Glenys Hanna-Martin told reporters on Wednesday that the damage to that particular block was not extensive adding necessary work will be carried out over the next few days.

Hanna-Martin says she is pleased with the swift response to the matter.

But that is not the only issue plaguing the education system.

Circulating on social media recently, reports of gang violence, bullying and stealing at H.O. Nash School. According to the education minister, those reports have been discredited.

Hanna-Martin asserts that the campus is safe and well-managed.
