NASSAU, BAHAMAS – They’re well-known for their performances at Baha Mar’s Jazz Bar – the Essence Band celebrated six years of making melodious tunes this past Friday with a special performance at their resident venue.

Taking center stage several nights a week at Jazz Bar, the essence band consistently delivers grand performances that hypnotize hundreds of locals and tourist with the melodies of jazz, R&B, pop, soca and yes, rake n scrape.

Last Friday the band celebrated their 6th anniversary at the resort where I learnt this interesting fact about how they were formed.

After deciding on an official name, the band then took the monumental step and auditioned for the coveted spot at Baha Mar and to everyone’s surprise they didn’t make the cut the first time.

What began as a three-piece band has now grown to an orchestra of nine talented individuals.

Dedicated to upholding a standard of high energy, discipline, and attention to details, it would be difficult for anyone to deny that although they may be young, this band is far beyond their years.
