EUROPE – The era of duty-free small packages into the United States is ending Friday, and European postal services are already hitting pause on shipments.

Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Italy have stopped sending most goods to the u-s, with France, Austria, and the U-K. set to follow in the coming days.

The move follows the expiration of the de minimis exemption, which let goods under 800 dollars enter duty-free.

U-S customs will now levy a 15 percent tariff on most items coming from Europe, causing confusion over how duties will be collected and when packages will clear.
