NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Recently certified as a FIFA match official, Evens Julmis had an opportunity to learn from the top officials in the region.

Julmis was one of several new officials to attend the CONCACAF refereeing seminar in Costa Rica.

The event brought together prospective and experienced referees alongside technical and fitness instructors.

Both theoretical and practical sessions gave the new referees high-level training for their development.

It was also meant to prepare them for upcoming tournaments such as the CONCACAF Nations League Final Four, the Champions Cup and the Gold Cup.

The UB Mingoes Men’s Soccer Team improved to 7-2 with another hard fought win as BFA Men’s League play continued.

The Mingoes topped the future stars 3-2, Sunday at the Roscow Davies Soccer Fields.

Green scored on a left-foot strike for the game’s first goal in the 25th minute. He scored his second goal of the game and 12th of the season in the 41st minute to give UB a 2-0 lead.

Barnes scored his eighth goal of the season for UB’s only goal in the second half and goal keeper Antonio Beckford preserved the win with several penalty kick saves down the stretch.

The Mingoes continue play Sunday against the Western Warriors Titans at 7pm.

Deandre Ayton and the Portland Trailblazers are turning things around in the Rose City and just picked up their sixth win in their last seven games Thursday night.

Ayton finished with 22 points and eight rebounds in the Blazers 119-90 win over the Orlando Magic Thursday night at the Moda Center in Portland.

He shot 10-12 from the field and added three steals.

After a five game losing streak earlier in the month, the Blazers have won six of their last seven with their only loss against the conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder.

With one of the youngest rosters in the NBA, Ayton has stepped into a leadership role for the franchise.
