NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 62-year-old man is awaiting sentencing for kidnapping and a raping a 14-year-old girl in 2004.

Lincoln Poitier was convicted of forcible detention, unlawful sexual intercourse and kidnapping following a trial before Justice Renae McKay.

Poitier, then 42, picked up the child from her New Providence home on January 3 and kept her in captivity until January 8.

Poitier, a close friend of the teen’s family, had previously been allowed to take her to events like Junkanoo without any of her relatives being there.

The girl testified that Poitier cuffed her hands and feet, bound her mouth with duct tape and tied her to a tree.

While being held against her will, Poitier had sex with her twice.

Poitier returns to court for the penalty phase of his trial on December 12.
