Family Friend Jailed For Molesting 5-Year-Old Boy

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who preyed on a five-year-old boy has been jailed for five and a half years.

47-year-old Jose Thompson faced a maximum possible sentence of eight years’ imprisonment for indecent assault.

Prosecutors alleged, and a jury accepted that Thompson, a friend of the victim’s family, picked him up from school three times in November 2020.

While the child was at Thompson’s home, he inappropriately touched the little boy.

The molestation came to light when the boy unexpectedly kissed his father on the lips.

When questioned about his unusual behavior, the child told his mother that Thompson kissed him.

Justice Joyann Ferguson told the convict that no prison sentence could restore his victim’s innocence, and that he avoided the maximum sentence because it was his first conviction.
