Family Members Remember Fallen MP As A Silent Giant

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It’s a bit of news that took everyone by surprise; early Sunday morning, Golden Isles MP and Environment and Natural Resources Minister Vaughn Miller passed away.

The news sending shockwaves throughout the community as cabinet colleagues and family members met at Doctors Hospital where Miller was taken and took his last breath.

His brother, Glen Miller, telling us soon after he got the tragic news that he couldn’t believe it when the news broke.

“Just wasn’t expecting this,” he said. “I got the call and thought I would come and check it out for myself but I still didn’t really believe it until I saw his face just now.”

He stressed that his brother was loved by his family and the community he served.

Miller first came into frontline politics back in 2017 when he won the Golden Isles seat under the former Minnis administration.

But, Miller trod a rocky road with the party that eventually led to him being fired from his government appointed post. He eventually left the FNM and became an independent MP. 

Miller then joined the then opposition Progressive Liberal Party but, outside of his public life,Miller served as a pastor.

Glen recalled the last conversation he had with his brother before his sudden death.

“About three weeks ago, we were having some lunch and we had a short conversation. He told me he wanted to go home because he was tired. He wanted to get home and relax. I told him I was going to my house to do the same thing. I haven’t seen him since.”
