CANADA – Meta says it will begin restricting news to Canadian consumers on its Facebook and Instagram platforms after parliament passed a controversial online news bill.
Canada’s Online News Act cleared the senate on Thursday and lays out rules requiring platforms like Meta and Google to negotiate commercial deals and pay news organisations for their content.
Meta has called the law “Fundamentally flawed”.
