NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A former politician is speaking out against the removal of Acting Director of Immigration Keturah Forbes from office saying she along with others should not be victimized for airing grievances.

Last week, a local daily reported Acting Director of Immigration Keturah Ferguson had been put on leave and offered a retirement package.

This decision faced criticism.

Former State Minister for Immigration Branville McCartney says he’s disappointed in the move, adding that the situation does not help government’s image.

Having worked with Ferguson during his time in office, McCartney says he’s found her to be a great resource.

McCartney says the decision goes in line with the PLP’s M.O. of victimization.

Some suggesting Ferguson was removed from her post after expressing concerns about happenings in the Ministry. McCartney says no one should be victimised for speaking out.
