NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Chairman of the Free National Movement Dr. Duane Sands, issuing a press release today regarding an incident on Elizabeth Estates Park yesterday.

The statement notes that “prominent Bahamian activist Terneille Burrows also known as Tada, was holding a press event, in a public space, to announce her intent to offer for the constituency of Elizabeth as an independent candidate.

“Sadly, her announcement to the public was interrupted by heckling from agents of the current MP for Elizabeth, Jobeth Coleby-Davis.”

According to Sands, “what ought to have been an event that demonstrated the vibrancy of our democracy was instead marred by gangsterism”.

He goes on to add, that as a former MP of Elizabeth, chairman of the FNM and as a Bahamian, he condemns “this crass and boorish behaviour categorically”.
