NASSAU, BAHAMAS – FNM Chairman Dr. Duane Sands explained what’s expected to happen at the party’s upcoming convention on June 1st during a press conference held Thursday night at the party’s headquarters.

The Central Council of the Free National Movement voted for the summer date when all offices will be vacant.

It’s expected to be the final voting convention before the 2026 General Elections.

Nominations for the convention will open on Monday, April 29, and potential candidates have until Friday, May 3 to nominate.

Secretary general serfent rolle says their sole purpose heading into this year’s convention is putting the right persons in place to go head-to-head with the davis administration at the next general election.

The FNM is currently being led by Michael Pintard and Deputy Shanendon Cartwright.

The last FNM convention was held in 2022, after the party suffered a crushing defeat at the polls following a snap election called by former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis in September 2021.

There has been speculation that minnis is eyeing a leadership comeback.

Pintard was asked by reporters  if he’s concerned about his leadership being challenged.
