NASSAU, BAHAMAS – What seems to be infighting within the Free National Movement spilling into the public, after a viral voice note prompted an emergency council meeting Monday night.

The general council of the FNM voting unanimously for party Vice-Chairman Richard Johnson to no longer be allowed to attend council meetings.

Party insiders tells us the general council voted 103 to 13 votes, but it’s a move Johnson isn’t accepting.

Our News understands the meeting came after a voice note went viral over the weekend. In it, Johnson called a press conference where he intended to call for the party’s chairman to resign.

The press conference was postponed.

However, insiders say Johnson has a number of issues before the disciplinary board of the party.

Sands is of the view that it’s all a distraction.

The meeting was held under police guard, a move Sands suggests isn’t unusual.

Johnson also responding to claims that recent unrest in the party is due to the fact that he is a supporter of former Leader Dr. Hubert Minnis and on his payroll.

Since the party’s election last year when Michael Pintard was elected FNM leader, there’s been speculations of a division in the party. It’s a claim Sands sought to shoot down.
