NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard questioned the impact Urban Renewal has in the community.

It comes as the pressure heats up for the Davis administration to tackle the issue.

Dubbed the brainchild of former Prime Minister Perry Christie during his last term in office, the program sought to address inner-city issues such as crime, poor housing and poverty.

Pintard says the government’s failure to be upfront with the state of the program has led to its failure…

This week saw the Free National Movement slam government’s handling of crime.

They held a press conference outside the office of the prime minister and led a protest in front of the House of Assembly Wednesday morning.

Pintard says under his watch, Urban Renewal will be better.

He also says the program should not be left entirely up to government.
